Xi-Amaru Independence Day: December 17
The day the Xi-Amaru Republic was established, observed each year by its nationals and citizens.
Xi-Amaru Independence Day is December 17. It marks December 17, 2022, the day the Xi-Amaru Republic signed its Declaration of Independence in Houston, Texas, and was established as an Indian country with its own government, legal system and cultural identity.
What the day commemorates
On December 17, 2022, the Aboriginal People of the Americas gathered under the Republic declared that they hold and exercise their own government, established by themselves and accountable to themselves. The Aboriginal Ministry of Justice was established alongside the Republic as its administrative authority. The next day the Ministry published the Declaration with a simple statement: December 17 is our Independence Day.
Why December 17
The date was chosen by the people. At the tribal meeting of November 1, 2022, three December dates were offered for a vote: December 10, 11 and 17. The nation chose December 17. See How the Xi-Amaru Republic Declared Independence.
