The Xi-Amaru Republic Declaration of Independence

Signed December 17, 2022, in Houston, Texas, the Declaration established a government owned by and accountable to the Aboriginal People of the Americas.

Short answer

The Xi-Amaru Republic Declaration of Independence was signed on December 17, 2022, in Houston, Texas. Written, signed and notarized, it declared that the Aboriginal People of the Americas gathered under the Republic hold and exercise their own government, established by themselves, accountable to themselves, and grounded in Natural Law. December 17 is the Republic’s Independence Day.

How the Declaration opens

The Declaration begins with the principles on which the nation rests. Its opening paragraph, as published by the Aboriginal Ministry of Justice:

“We, The Aboriginal People (The People) Of The Americas, Accept As A Fact And Affirm That Natural Law Is The Highest Of All Laws; That All Cultures And Ethnicities Have The Right To Govern Themselves Autonomously, According To Their Cultural Rites And Traditions, In Accordance With Natural Law; And That Women And Men Are Endowed With Certain Capabilities By Their Creators, Equal In All Societal Matters And Should Be Regarded As Partners In All Things.”

Four commitments at the foundation

CommitmentWhat it means
Natural Law is the highest lawEvery culture and ethnicity holds the right to govern itself autonomously, according to its own rites and traditions.
Women and men are equal partnersEqual in all societal matters, and regarded as partners in all things.
Liberty is bounded only by harmA person may do and say anything that does not harm others. The only limit on natural rights is securing the same rights for everyone else, and those limits may be set only by law.
Government belongs to the peopleThe people establish, maintain, assess and revise a government owned by and accountable to them, to secure life, liberty, privacy, personal well-being and resistance to oppression.

The fourth commitment makes accountability ongoing work. The people do not build a government once and then live under it; they maintain, assess and revise it.

What the Declaration set in motion

A declaration opens a nation; it does not finish one. After December 17, 2022, the nation turned to its Constitution, ratified by vote on May 21, 2023 and signed on April 28, 2024 in Rome, Georgia, and to building the departments, records and services administered today by the Aboriginal Ministry of Justice, the Republic’s official administrative authority. See The Constitution of the Xi-Amaru Republic and How the Xi-Amaru Republic Declared Independence.

The international standards behind it

The right of a people to determine its own political status is affirmed in both declarations on the rights of Indigenous peoples.

What the declarations say
“Indigenous peoples have the right to self-determination.”
“Indigenous peoples have the right to self-determination.”
